Top 5 Misconceptions About Online Dating

Not only are relationships difficult, but online dating is extremely difficult, mainly due to the misconceptions about dating online.

Millions of people worldwide register for membership

Let’s clear up some odd perceptions about dating online.  People make the mistake of thinking it’s only for a certain “type” of person that sign up while in fact, millions of people have joined dating services.  Professionals, celebrities, millionaires, students, gays and lesbians, young and old have put their trust in a  top dating site  to find true love. In light of this, we need to come to an understanding so that you can connect with others who match your needs.

1. They only pretend to want a relationship

Well, they are scammers everywhere, including online dating sites, however, plenty of men and women are genuinely searching for someone to have a real relationship with.  However, you know that you have run into a con artist if he immediately wants to build a relationship online, if he writes short stories instead of short messages and if the profile and messages are not written well.  You can also tell if he asks you for money.

2. Finding Mr. or Mrs. Perfect

If you hadn’t realized it yet, there is no such person as Mr. or Mrs. Perfect.  Nobody is without flaws, so if you are expecting to meet your “everything” man (woman), don’t waste your time dating at all.  Maybe your partner is a match intellectually, but doesn’t meet the height or weight requirements by a couple of inches, do you not date this person?  It depends on how bad you want a relationship.

3. Men who have difficulty spelling are illiterate

If you’re thinking that a man is less than a man because he misspelled a couple of words, ask yourself, how many errors did you make before you used the spellchecker? Maybe the man’s strength is science and maybe you are totally clueless about.  Does this make you any less of a woman because you can’t identify the planets or the stars?  Come on, think about it!

4.  A photo doesn’t really matter, does it?

Well, yes, a photo does matter.  The photo of you in high school doesn’t represent the person you are today, so a current pic is likely the better choice and while you’re at it, add a few of them and let your personality show.  Let’s face it; when you are buying a car, the first thing you notice is the outside.  Next, you find out the details and that is why you buy the car.  Packaging is everything.

A current pic is likely the better choice let your personality show.

5.  Tell the truth; how old are you, really?

Not everyone is ashamed to tell their age and at the same time, you don’t have to give your exact age when you meet someone, but do keep it real and say something like “twentyish” when asked your age.

Conclusion

Keep in mind that relationships are built on trust and none are easy to maintain and to grow. Few relationships are without troubles, squabbles or situations.  It’s how you handle them that count.
