I bet you can’t wait to take out your moccasins, shorts and the rest of your summer clothes, right? So do I. But, in the meantime, let’s enjoy spring and the unlimited layering opportunities it brings.

I made a small selection of some fresh lookbooks that I enjoyed. You may or may not like them but one thing is clear: preppy style is still hot.

So if you enjoy mixing timeless garments with bold colors and patterns, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in what follows.

Enjoy!

We start off with an amazing outfit from Leon from Germany.

Breakdown:

– white dress shirt
– navy chinos
– patterned tie
– tie bar
– suede lace-ups

Next, we have Reynaldo from L.A. with an extremely relaxed outfit. The finishing touch is brought by the glasses which make the wearer look not just stylish, but also smart.

Many times, the way in which a photo of an outfit is made can influence the way in which we perceive both the outfit and the person wearing it. A great-looking outfit can go unnoticed because the photo was taken inside or at night and you can’t really see the colors very well.

Let me show you some really stylish picture of a gentleman. Both the outfits and the quality of the photo are excellent. They seem to be taking us back in time, when suits and sports jackets were worn by a lot more men. here we go.

For more details about photography, I invite you to visit Mihai Serester’s blog (the perosn who made this photos and was kind enough to let me publish them):

Autumn is almost over and, if you look back at my past articles, you’ll notice a few of them present things that I bought. It’s time to put them all together and show you a, what I consider to be, out of this world outfit.

Though it’s not perfect (my jeans are a little too long), I’m curious as to what you make of it?

The outfit is composed of

  • Camel-colored pea coat
  • Dark brown shirt
  • Orange t-shirt
  • Brown loafers and brown belt
  • Dyed blue-jeans

What did you wear this fall?

Sure, this looks is simple. But, sometimes, it’s the simple outfits that attract the eye the most. Peter is wearing a pair of white linen pants, a rolled-up linen white shirt and a pair of brown flip-flops.

Can it get more simple than that?

Before you close this page, I have one important question for you: have you thought about what clothes to wear this summer?

If you’re a real gentleman, you should have a pretty good idea of what clothes to wear (think boat shoes, espadrilles, shorts, rolled up khakis, short sleeved shirts, rolled up long sleeved shirts etc. etc.). Peter gave you just a few ideas, but there are plenty more options.

Ever wondered how to pull off a military jacket? Jean Pierre is here to tell us this is an art, but one that you can learn quickly and easily.

The breakdown:

– simple white t-shirt
– simple grey jeans
– white plimsoll shoes
– grey military jacket
– grey men’s bag
– dark grey scarf
– several pendants, one from steel, one representing a black cross

While it looks complicated, I assure you that, once deconstructed, this outfit is a piece of cake.

The core of this great-looking outfit is actually one that you can reproduce without any fashion sense whatsoever. The white t-shirt, jeans and the white athletic shoes are probably something you already have in your closet.

As you can see, there’s nothing fancy neither about the military jacket nor the men’s bag. They are of exact same color and they most likely don’t cost that much. Yet, this look will probably draw way more attention than that of an over-sized suit worn buy some rich dude. Seriously.

But why in the world would Jean Pierre choose to wear such monotone colors? Good question and I have an answer for that.

First off, he IS wearing white. White is great as it complements everything. Second, he “compensates” the lack of color by accessorizing. In fact, there are three ways you can stand out in style:

– color
– patterns
– accessories

If you’ve got one or two out of three, you’ll stand out.

So Jean Pierre does stand out. But not so much, right? The thing I like about his attire is that he’s trying to stand out without appearing to. It’s like he just threw on a few random clothes and went out. To me, this is what really makes the outfit cool.

Standing out while giving the impression you’re not trying to do so is the highest form of style. And, if you’re a serious style student, I’m sure you’ll let me teach you.

One last thing: look at Jean Pierre’s face. He’s so relaxed that one would say he was born wearing this outfit. The point I’m trying to make is that the outfit should always reflect your inner self.

If you’re the relaxed, super-casual type, go for a look like Jean Pierre’s. If you’re the businessman type, go for a cool sports jacket and a pair of leather loafers.

I told you how matching your outfit is the most important thing.
I told you how clothes quality is crucial.
I told you which pieces are the most important if you’re trying to build yourself a personal image that will send unconscious sex signals to women.

Now it’s time to prove it by showing you a (great) full outfit.

Peter has put together a nice outfit that shows really good taste in clothes. He started with just a blazer and a pair of khakis and look what he’s pulled of! If you’re looking to impress the girls in your campus, this look will definitely do it.

Items:

  • navy-blue pinstripe 2 button blazer
  • light grey dress shirt
  • grey sweater vest
  • brown moccasins
  • khakis
  • black men’s bag

The thing about Peter’s attire is that it’s not flashy. It’s not flashy at all. But it’s a great mixture of formal and casual which will always make a good impression.

This isn’t something that will get outdated in a year or two, by the way. Basically all items in his outfit are timeless (the blazer, the khakis, even the moccasins).

Two more things we should notice are his haircut (which complements his face very well) and the contrast between the khakis and the blazer. Khaki and navy blue, as you can see complement each-other very well.

Can you pull off something similar?

Do it. Be different and make your outside be a reflection of your inside.
