Shaving your face is part of any man’s life. It’s one of the things you need to master when you take the passage from boy to manhood. And it could get very very tricky.

In my case, for example, my mother is nagging me to shave, because she thinks that a beard makes me look older. But I like it very much, and I consider shaving too much of a problem to bother with. I just use an electrical clipper, designed for the head hair.

This article however, is for anyone out there who is getting tired of getting nicks and scratches and an irritated face and who wants to shave the correct way.

So, let’s see the steps:

1.Trim it as much as possible, by means of an electrical clipper or a pair of scissors

Electric clippers are best for this mission. The reason you are doing it is to make your mission easier later on.

2. Wash your face using an exfoliant gel or cream, in a circular motion

photo:health24.com

This way you will soften your beard and prevent infection in case of nicks later on.

3.Rub shaving oil on your face

This will act as a lubricant for when you will use shaving cream, allowing the razor to slide much easier.

4.Apply the shaving cream on your face, preferably with a brush

The brush will further help to soften your beard and exfoliate your skin.  Avoid using a bar of soap, as this can leave a residue on the blade, dulling the edge and eventually causing rusting even on stainless blades.

5.Start shaving your neck and chin

To shave under your chin and your neck, shave from the bottom of your neck upwards (with the grain) to prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs. There are some places where against the growth means shaving from left to right, not just up down.

6.Work your way to your cheeks, jawline and upper lip

For the top section of your beard, shave from the top of the beard to the edge of your jawline in long, steady strokes. Don’t forget to shave as high as possible on the cheekbones so that you won’t have ugly facial hairs there.

To shave your upper lip, stretch it over your front teeth to tighten the skin, and shave downwards. You’re now shaving with the growth of the hair.

For an easier shaving, don’t forget to periodically rinse your razor with water, so that it doesn’t become clogged with hair. Slide your fingers downwards on the blades if the damn thing won’t come off.

7.Rinse your face with warm water and check for areas you might have missed

Check your cheek bones, your whiskers and your sideburns. When you are checking your sideburns, best advice is to put both index fingers where the sideburns end. After that look in the mirror. Are the 2 fingers at the same level? Then the sideburns are shaved correctly. If not, continue with the shaving.

8.Rinse your face with cold water and pat it dry with a clean towel

Apply a non-alcohol shaving balm. Aloe and tea tree oil can help prevent dry skin and razor burn. However, if you are going to use Tea Tree Oil, it should be at a very low concentration, since it’s potentially irritating to freshly-shaved skin.

When you master these 8 steps, you can try more adventurous things, like different beard styles, mustaches , so on and so forth. My advice right now is to read carefully this article and shave that caveman beard.

Though most men don’t seem to care about skin care, winter forces them to grow beards. It’s our way of reacting to the dry air and low temperatures that we face in this season.

Plus, some men even experience itchiness, dry skin, and even eczemas. Is this your case as well?

But what if a good skin care will protect the skin and make us look stylish at the same time? Why cure when you can prevent…

A good skin-care routine is especially useful during winter. You’ll look great but, more importantly, you’ll FEEL great.

Look, the times when skin care was only for the ladies are long gone. It’s time you become a well rounded gentleman. And part of that is seeing with your mind, not your eyes. Men spent $217 MILLION dollars in 2009 on skin care, and the numbers are rising.

Here’s a basic 3 step skin-care formula that’s a great start for anyone. The products are inexpensive to buy and they’re well worth your money because your face will look a lot better. Here we go.

Step 1: Cleansing

Cleansing is the first step of any good skin care routine. Before we apply any other gel or cream on it, we need to remove any dust particles and pollutants. You should clean your face at least twice a day, once in the morning and once right before you go to sleep. Of course, if you’re going out or you just came back from the gym, an extra cleanse is necessary.
WARNING: don’t use regular soap for cleansing your skin. Keep the soap for your hands and the rest of your body. Either use a cleansing gel or just warm water.

Step 2: Exfoliation

Exfoliation serves pretty much the same purpose as cleansing, it only it targets something else. Exfoliation removes “dead skin cells” from your skin’s surface. If you exfoliate periodically you will see real improvements in your facial skin. You’ll have smoother, shinier skin that will be noticed by women.
Exfoliation should always be done before shaving. Besides that, just do it once or twice a week if you have normal skin, and 3-4 times a week if you have oily skin. Use an exfoliating gel or cream.

Step 3: Hydrate

Hydrating your skin during winter is probably the most important step. You can’t skip this one. Your skin is practically molested by cold temperatures, dry and cold air. You need to keep it hydrated and for this you need a hydrating cream.

Contrary to what you might expect, hydrating creams don’t hydrate your skin. They actually protect it from the dry wind and slow down the evaporation of water from your skin surface.
I know this is something that doesn’t make too much sense. After all, why interfere with the way skin works?
Don’t worry. Hydrating creams don’t block your skin pores. They keep the skin hydrated and it works very well.

When you choose your cream, make sure you choose one that offers as many benefits as possible. You’ll see in the advertisements that some creams contain Vitamin E, Green Tea and other things meant to protect your skin even further.

Though manufacturers will show off with every little benefit their creams have, it’s ok to go for such creams. If a hydrating cream doesn’t have any such highlights, maybe the producer can’t afford to make a better formula, one that will better protect your skin.

OK, now that you know the simple 1-2-3 formula for taking care of your skin during cold winters, all you have to do is get a cleansing gel, an exfoliating cream and a hydrating cream. Use them regularly and watch how your skin looks after a couple of weeks.

To see results even better, why not take a before and an after picture? Watching yourself daily in the mirror will trick you into thinking nothing’s changed. That may not be the case.

Remember, your face is the first thing people look at. No matter how stylishly you dress, a good facial routine shows attention to detail. Women will notice and love you for it.

Hygiene is basic. If there’s one thing more important than style, that’s hygiene. I’m not going to start giving you reasons for this because I’m sure you already know them. But I’ve never spoken abut this topic before so it’s time that I should.

I realized that sometimes we forget some of these hygiene rules so I decided to put them all in one place. It’s enough to review it from time to time and make sure you don’t break any of them.

Hair Length

You know how us men delay from time to time to have a haircut? The hair just starts growing and growing until it becomes almost impossible to make it look right in the morning. Only then do we decide to do something about it.

In order to avoid these situations, you should decide BEFOREHAND how often you should have a haircut. If you think you should do it every two weeks, MAKE A DECISION then STICK TO IT. That way you won’t have doubts as to when to go and, thus, you won’t delay.

Baths and Showers

Things are simple here, take a shower once a day and after each sporting activity. Take more showers daily if it’s hot outside or if you have a tendency to sweat a lot. You don’t have to spend 20 minutes in there, 2-3 minutes are enough.

Baths are very relaxing, it’s worth taking one at least once a week. Keep in mind (and this goes for showers too) that hot water damages skin in the long run. The fact that skin hydrates when you expose it to water is a big myth. The more you do so, the faster it dehydrates. In time, this could lead to premature aging. Hot water can also remove some of your skin’s natural oils.

Hands Hygiene

Hands are the area that is exposed to other people the most. This is why they should always be kept clean. If you travel frequently by bus or subway, by holding on to those metal bars while standing, you become even more exposed to bacteria.

Did you know that Donald Trump never shakes hands with his partners because he’s afraid of germs? No, you don’t have to be this strict, just remember to wash your hands with soap throughout the day.

The Deodorant

Not much to say here, you find plenty of them in stores. Pick the one you like.

The Underwear

Ideally, you want to change your underwear every day. The days you have sporting activities or it’s too hot outside and you’re sweating, you should do it even more often.

Your Face and Facial Hair

Your face is the first thing anyone sees when they first make contact with you, so it deserves special care.

A basic good facial routine is composed of exfoliation (removing dead skin cells), shaving, tonifying and hydration (this last step is not recommended if you have oily skin). I’m not trying to convince you to go buy 5 different facial creams but, if you skin doesn’t look very well then you must take action. Depending on your budget I recommend you get at least a hydrating and an exfoliating cream.

Dental Care

I left teeth for last but don’t imagine they’re the least important. I personally spent A LOT of money getting my teeth problems fixed because I didn’t take excellent care of them.

Though I’m not a certified dentist, I will give you a few pieces of advice that I was given to along the years.

A full ritual for taking care of your teeth should consist of:

Brushing your teeth

You probably know this one but one thing that I’ve noticed over the last few years is that people tend to use chewing gum instead. I know we have busy lives and that a gum is faster and you can chew while doing most daily activities; however, you should know that a toothbrush is WAY more effective. Use your toothbrush as often as possible.

What toothbrush to use? I recommend that you use electric toothbrushes. I’ve been using them for over 2 years and, overall, I’ve had less cavities.

The reason? Electric toothbrushes do a better job at removing leftover food, compared with regular toothbrushes (Which would require us to do a lot of hand movement to achieve the same result.)

Flossing

Once you’ve brushed all your teeth, there still are some leftovers in-between, where the toothbrush didn’t reach.

A few years back I had just gone through an operation one of my teeth. It was an experience I never want to repeat… ever again! Anyway, right as I was about to leave the dentist’s office, I just had to ask:

Is there ANY way that I can avoid cavities?

This hot-looking doctor smiled (as if she heard that question too many times already) and she recommended this:

She said to me: If you want to get rid of cavities… dental floss is the holy grail.

She was right. Once I started using it, I noticed the dental floss helped me remove a lot of extra food from in-between my teeth. It was obvious then: the extra food that my (electric) toothbrush missed was causing all my agony and pain.

Using a mouthwash

Mouthwash is important because it cleans your mouth even more from areas where not even dental floss can reach. Think bacterias mostly, which can lead to dental plague, and, eventually, cavities. If you find yourself that your teeth get cavities very easily, don’t skip this step.

Look, I’m not a dentist and I’m not trying to give you medical advice. Far from it. What I’ve told you about personal hygiene is what I’ve been told by other dentists to do and… it worked. I have very crowded teeth, had lots of cavities over the years and even went through dental surgery.

Right now? At my last annual check, the doctor enthusiastically said to me: Congratulations, you’re taking really good care of your teeth! (I was actually a little embarrassed because there were some cute women around and I felt like a kid.. but he was right.)

I hope you realized clothes are NOT the most important thing when it comes to style. Personal hygiene is VERY important so it needs extra care from you. A body that’s not taken care of will look bad even in the most stylish of outfits.

One of the bigger issues my readers asked about A LOT is sweating. And for good reason: Nothing can be more embarrassing than to have a sweaty hand when you shake hands.
I’m not going to give you medical advice about how to solve this issue but I CAN give you some advice that anyone can apply to reduce its effects.
The interesting fact is that these advice should be taken by ANYONE. Even if you don’t have excessive sweating, you should still read this article. The advice contained in it will automatically increase the quality and health of your life.
First of all, let’s see what’s causing this problem. This “issue” is actually called hyperhidrosis and it affects an enormous amount of people in various degrees. It can occur in one or more areas of the human body, such as: armpits, hands, feet and the groin area.

No matter which area you are facing difficulties in, excessive sweating needs to be cured. Don’t let the time pass – the sooner you solve a nagging problem, the sooner you can enjoy more of the rest of your life.

If your case is not extreme, try the advice below to see if it passes. If not, you should ask for medical advice.

I recommend that you…

  • …avoid spicy foods. They will only make you sweat more. I know they taste good but, at least make sure you don’t eat them before going out.
  • …avoid stressful situations. Relax as much as possible, avoid people and situations that ma raise your anxiety level.
  • …use antiperspirants. For sever cases of excessive sweating this may not work but, if you’re facing a lighter version of this condition, it’s worth trying. If the antiperspirants that are available without prescription did not work, your doctor may recommend something stronger.
  • …avoid slim fit clothes and those made of synthetics. make sure your body can breathe but don’t wear clothes that are too large either.
  • …drink more fluids, at least for a while to see results. Also, avoid caffeine and alcohol as much as possible.

If the above advice doesn’t work, you MUST see a doctor. And, if the prescribed treatments don’t work either, there are more expensive ways, ways which imply surgery. In this case, it is imperative to get informed on the subject and consider carefully whether you want to go through this. Good luck!

if you had this problem and managed to fix it, I invite you to share everyone your success story. I’m sure a lot of people are suffering from excessive sweating and they tried a lot of things.

How to Create a Good Hair Care Routine for Men

from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Whether you’re more of the “Classic” type or into the latest and trendiest hairstyles, a thorough yet simple hair care routine is critical to keeping your manly locks looking great.

Steps

  1. Shampoo: Choose a nice, soothing aromatic shampoo that is appealing to one’s taste. The flavor doesn’t matter, as long as the shampoo is ph balanced to ensure clean and healthy hair. Shampooing daily with the rinse and repeat instructions is not a ploy to sell more products. A second shampoo gets the job done. The first shampoo prepares the scalp to be throughly cleaned by loosening up all the “cool” products that make hair look and feel great!
  2. Tone: Gently massage your scalp as you shampoo. Use the balls of the fingertips in a “spider doing push-ups” fashion. This is an often skipped part of everyone’s hair care routine. It’s too bad because toning for a few minutes — even after shampooing, not only feels great, but helps the scalp release natural oils from one’s sebaceous glands (that’s a good thing). There’s no special way to massage, although, try to avoid a circular pattern on long hair. Most of the oil is near the scalp. If no conditioner is to follow, gently towel dry the hair by squeezing to avoid tangles. A light, BB-sized dab of a moisturizing conditioner works miracles.
  3. Condition: Moisturize your hair. Conditioner is an essential hair product if your hair is dry. An herbal rinse is better for those with oily hair. You can make both products yourself but they can be purchased for a few dollars at any popular pharmacy or salon supply store.
  4. Groom: Get the right tools. You’ll likely need the following:
    • brush (natural bristles are best)
    • comb (wide-toothed if you have curly hair) >
    • pick (plastic or metal tines)
    • hair dryer (if it’s less than 1000 watts, you’re wasting your time)
  5. Style: Find a comfortable style that you can easily maintain on your own daily in less than five minutes. The better you know hair products, the faster you’ll get your hair done. Make sure to read up on the Internet, starting with the external links below.

Tips

  • Don’t be cheap about the styling products. Cheap ones will either dry out your hair or grease it up. Find good quality gel, pomade, mousse, and whichever other products that are best for your hair type. They may be a bit expensive, but you only need to use a little to do a lot.
  • If you keep your hair cut very short, you probably won’t need any styling treatments, as the oils from your scalp will be sufficient for your hair, and the short hair basically styles itself.
  • Get regular haircuts and trims from your trusted barber.
  • Massage your scalp with your fingertips or the pads of your fingers–not with your fingernails.

Warnings

  • Don’t let other dudes call you a “pussy” for caring about hair care. Good hair works well at work, and is attractive to women and men alike.
