Analog Or Digital? Which One Looks Best On Your Wrist?

analog versus digital watches

For every stylish man, the battle between classic and modern is never-ending. You get to choose between formal and casual accessories, formal or casual shoes and so on.

The watch is yet another episode of this battle, with its two distinctive designs: analog and digital.

The choice you’re going to make isn’t just about which one is best. let me tell you right from the get go: there’s no straight answer to that.

The choice depends on factors that most men don’t even know exist (or they just don’t care). I’m going to quickly show you those factors and help you make a decision FAST as to which type of watch to buy.

Once you make up your mind, hunting for the exact brands becomes twice as easy. YOu just filter out the other category and focus on either analog or digital.

Factor #1: Yourself

A watch is a long-term investment, so it should fit your personality and, of course, your age.

IF you’re in high-school, a digital watch is better and cooler for your age. If you’re a senior, an analog watch will reveal your wisdom almost instantly. And if you’re in between these categories… read on… things are about to get complicated.

Factor #2: Your outfit

Accessories should always be picked after you’ve made up about the clothes that you’re going to wear. Once that is done, you should attempt at answering the question: is my outfit mostly casual or formal?

If you’re wearing a business or a business-casual attire, an analog watch will show class and it might just land you that bank loan.

On the other hand, if your outfit is somewhere in-between (preppy style – think chinos, dress shirts, cardigans), either an analog or a digital watch are in place.

Lastly, if you’re wearing a 100% casual outfit (think hoodies and t-shirts), a digital watch is the way to go.

It’s all pretty clear, right? Except for when you’re wearing one of those amazing preppy style outfits that gets girls to turn their heads constantly.

Which one should you choose?

Well, this is as far as I can go with my advice. If you’re a prepster, it’s up to you. If you wear an analog watch, you make the outfit more formal. If you wear a digital watch, you make it more casual.

Before you decide, think about what other accessories you’ll be wearing. For instance, a digital watch will go great with a pendant or a metal bracelet. An analog (classy) watch will work amazing with a pocket square.

But that’s just me. Feel free to break the rules, just like this guy did:

What do you think?

My last piece of advice

Like I said, I can’t choose for you but I do insist hat you look at as many models as possible. Debenhams has lots of watches for you too look at. The more you see the better.

Ideally, you’d want 2 watches, one that’s digital and one that’s analog, so you can wear the right one depending on the occasion.
