Men’s Hats That Make Women Give You “The Look”

We’ve discussed a lot about accessories and how they can amplify attraction. It’s time to put the spotlight on one of the best men’s accessories: hats.

Saying you don’t look good in a hat is like saying you don’t look good in shoes!

Before you say to yourself Nah, I’m not wearing one of those, let me give you some benefits of wearing hats. I’d say this timeless accessory has the largest number of advantages.

Did you know that hats…

  • can make you look taller?
  • protect you from sunrays in the summer and help you retain body heat during winter?
  • aren’t worn by many men so they’ll make you stand out in a positive way?

Those are some pretty big benefits but don’t rush over to buy any hat just yet. I’ll first show you which ones are stylish, then you can decide for yourself which one(s) you want to experiment with.

One thing is sure… there’s a hat for everyone.

The fedora

It would take pages to try and figure out why the fedora is the coolest hat out there. The shape is just cool and looks good on most men. If there’s one piece of advice that you can get out of this article and implement right away, it is this: go try on as many fedora hats as you can.

The fedora is made of felt, a fabric obtained by pressing woollen fibers together. Celebrities like Humphrey Bogart, Michael Jackson and movie characters such as Duck Tracy and Indiana Jones are all known to have worn and popularized the fedora.

Then why don’t more men wear hats?

The fact of the matter is, fedoras bring an air of formality to any outfit and most men aren’t used to that. Very few know that you can take a fedora and match it to almost any casual outfit.

You can wear a fedora with:

  • chinos and khakis
  • cardigans, dress shirts, v-neck sweaters, vests
  • leather shoes and sneakers
  • … and the list can go on and on

The rules for color matching the fedora stay the same as with other items of clothing. Did you see the first photo of this article, the one with the grey fedora? If you look closely, you’ll see that it has thin yellow lines on it. Now what better way to match this pattern than to wear a yellow V-neck or a white shirt with yellow stripes or checks?

But these are just a few examples, it all depends on the types of hats you’ll find when you go shopping.

The Panama hat

If you’re looking for something edgier, try a panama hat. Though you should only wear it during summer (along with boat shoes, espadrilles and shorts), panama hats have that ribbon that you can match with the rest of your outfit.

Take this really stylish panama hat from Hats.com :

Match that brown ribbon to a brown leather belt and you’ll be shocked at how many women will check you out.

What fabrics should I choose?

Good question. We already established that fedoras are made of felt, but did you know they can be made of straw as well?

Straw hats should only be worn during summer and for good reason. They allow your head to “breathe” and felt doesn’t do that very well.

I should also note that panamas are also straw hats – in case you’re wondering why you can’t find any panamas made of felt.

Bottom line: if you get a felt fedora and a straw panama hat, you’re pretty much covered for all four seasons. Take good care of them and you’ll make them last a lifetime.
