There is an abundance of running shoes on the market, making the search for the perfect pair quite difficult and daunting. But, as we become more conscious consumers and aware of the harsh realities of fast fashion, we realize our purchasing power and the direct effect our actions have on the planet.

As we make this shift towards sustainability, we recognize the importance of supporting and buying from brands that reflect our own personal ethos and values. That was exactly the case with the start of Zen Running Club. When three friends debated what a modern running brand should encompass it was evident that there was a gaping hole in the fitness market. The traditional products that allowed runners to successfully perform were a burden to the planet’s natural resources and built with synthetic, unnatural materials. The sustainable running shoes that were on the market, lacked style and proper functionality needed for success and pushing boundaries, and that’s where Zen Running Club comes in.

Zen Running Club

Zen Running Club was founded with a goal of putting sustainability at the heart of the brand. The founders are committed to replacing synthetic materials with plant based, raw-materials such as sugarcane, tree fibers, socially responsible rubber, and organic and recycled cotton. They are a proud partner to The Vegetarian Society, making the product fully vegan and cruelty free. Notably, the replacement of synthetic materials does not harm the functionality, excellence, or performance of the runner and instead demonstrates how far plant powered innovation can take us.

The ZR01 is engineered to be lightweight, fast, and responsive, with a stacked rocker midsole that helps propel you forward as you run– making any obstacle doable. The clean, minimalistic style is available in a range of colours, ensured to leave you stylish and fit for your next marathon. The shoes encapsulate a story of what it means to be a modern runner, while honouring nature and our impact. Highly functional, durable, lightweight and made from plants all come to together to create a revolutionary difference in each step.

Made from good decisions, the positioning of the shoe is a go-to, every day running shoe that pushes industry boundaries through style, innovation, and cutting-edge sustainable technologies. Revolutionize how you run and take a leap forward for the planet.

The NBA is filled with many of the world’s greatest basketball players but how does it stand up in terms of their fashion sense?

Well, this league also has some highly fashionable stars in it, with the following players leading the way thanks to their great looks and some eye-catching choices.

LeBron James

Arguably always the favorite as MVP in the 2022 NBA Championship Odds, LeBron James is also one of its key fashion icons. After joining the NBA as the first pick in the 2003 draft, he has gone on to establish a reputation as one of the sport’s greatest-ever players. He currently plays with the Los Angeles Lakers and holds the impressive record of being the only basketball player to have won and been MVP in three NBA finals with three different teams.

In a fashion sense, James is known for having a highly diverse style that ranges from smart suits to casual gear with sneakers. His stylish arena tunnel entrances let him show off a tremendous sense of fashion that includes athletic gear but doesn’t veer too far in that direction. His roles hosting the ESPY Awards and Saturday Night Live have allowed him the opportunity to show his fashion sense to a wider audience, and it’s something he has taken full advantage of.

Russell Westbrook

Widely regarded as one of the NBA’s fashion icons, Westbrook joined the league in the 2008 draft and currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. One of the sport’s top stars, he is also well-known for the eye-catching outfits that he wears, often combining bright colors and outrageous styles.

His outfits don’t always work perfectly, but he’s brave and bold enough to try just about anything. Westbrook founded his own clothing line – named Honor the Gift – in 2016 and before that he has worked as the image of Kings and Jaxs Boxer Briefs. Westbrook has stated in the past that, “I have always loved fashion” and it clearly shows.

PJ Tucker

The long and varied pro basketball career of PJ Tucker has taken him to countries like Israel and Germany, as well as a couple of spells in the NBA. While he joined the American league back in the 2006 draft, it was 2021 before he won an NBA Championship, a feat he achieved with the Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Miami Heat.

His fashion sense has seen him wear a massive variety of clothing, with his huge collection of thousands of pairs of sneakers showing how seriously he takes his look. Tucker has said that he loves getting dressed up every day, and that he cares a lot about his appearance. In fact, he even went as far as to say that if he looks good then he plays good, calling it a type of chain reaction.

Jordan Clarkson

Since joining the NBA in the 2014 draft, Jordan Clarkson has made a bigger impact than had perhaps been expected of a second round pick. After entering the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team thanks to his performances during his first season in the league, he moved to the Utah Jazz and is currently on a four-year contract worth $52 million.

The Filipino-American player likes to take risks with his clothing choices, leading to fascinating outfits such as the plaid kilt that he wore following a game early in 2021. Other interesting fashion decisions that he’s made include using a Chanel bag around his neck and wearing a robe sweatsuit. He may not be as big a star on the court as Westbrook or James yet, but his fashion sense is up with the best players in the NBA.

There are many reasons why hockey is the best sport! But the main reason for our boundless love for hockey is passion. The passion of players, coaches, and, above all, fans, makes hockey something we love.

When you go to a hockey game, you may encounter all kinds of passion and different categories of fans. We have identified 6 categories of fans that you meet at any NHL game, who will be familiar to you, and from which you may prefer to stay away.

1. Beginner

Usually, this is an adult who, for some unexplained reason, went to a hockey game for the first time in his life just to have a fun time with a companion. You can tell by his new jersey, which still has a price tag on it. The jersey doesn’t have a player’s last name because he doesn’t know anyone on the team yet.

2. Road fighter

It is recommended to stay away from this category. Not only will you be annoyed by the constant shouts of support for his team, but there is a high probability that, in the end, a fight will start between you. Save your nerves and ignore these fans, let them watch their team lose while everyone else celebrates the victory.

3. Mr Canada

Mr Canada can be very annoying. These fans were born and raised in Canada and are fully convinced that hockey belongs to them. They refuse to admit that there are a large number of countries that also play hockey. If you do fall into a trap, they will buzz to your ears that this game should have remained in the halls of the great white north.

4. Hockey fans

The Puck Bunny is a very rare fan category. Such girls adore hockey players. They go down and, leaning against the glass, with hope in their hearts, wait for their favourite player to wink at them or wave their hand during training.

It’s safe to say that the walls of their room are covered with posters depicting the player of their dreams. They are ready to do anything to attract the attention of their favourite hockey player, even if sometimes it may go beyond the bounds of decency … Bolton Escorts directory is the best source if you want to hire The Puck Bunny escorts.

5. Rivals

They live to hate their rivals. They mark the days on the calendar in which these games fall in red because they know that the stands will be restless. Hard verbal altercations and fights during such matches are almost guaranteed, but on the other hand, if they also behave on the ice, then why should the audience restrain themselves?

6. A dedicated fan

We left the best for last – a dedicated fan. This is a dedicated fan who lives, drinks, and eats just for the sake of his favourite team. In the family of such a fan, seasonal tickets have been passed down from generation to generation for at least three generations. In his wardrobe, you are unlikely to find items of clothing that do not match the colours of the team. Driving for 3 hours to see a game is not a hassle for them. Without such fans, there would be no one to show off on the big screen (well, except for the dancing guy)!

To fans of rugby league, rugby union or both, the differences between the two codes couldn’t be more apparent. To a layperson, however, they probably look close to identical. So what is the difference between NRL and rugby union, and are they really all that different at all? Let’s start with the features that they share.

The similarities

When watching both of these sports, it’s immediately obvious that there are plenty of similarities between them. This is unsurprising, given that they are both born from the same game, and the differences largely came about as a result of the variations of the same sport of rugby that were played over 100 years ago.

The aim of both games is the same — to get the ball to your end of the field and touch it on the ground for a try, and in both codes you also get a chance at a conversion afterwards. The way you move the ball is also the same — by running, throwing and sometimes kicking it, with all passes by hand being required to go backwards. And of course, perhaps the most obvious feature shared by the two sports is the defensive objective of each team — tackle, tackle, tackle.

Clearly these are pretty major features – in fact they make up the bulk of the game — and it’s obvious that the two sports have been derived from one. Ardent supporters of each of them, however, will claim that it’s the subtle differences that make their favourite code the better form of rugby, so let’s take a look at those differences.

The differences

Let’s start with scoring. As mentioned above, the way in which teams score is much the same in the two codes, but the points awarded for each scoring action differ significantly. For starters, a try is worth four points in the NRL while in rugby union it’s worth five. The conversion afterwards is worth two in both, but teams in the two codes can also score via a drop goal (kicking the ball through the goal posts during play) or a penalty goal. In the NRL, drop goals are a lot rarer as they are worth just one point — rugby union awards three points for the same thing. Penalty goals are also worth more in union (three points) than in the NRL (two points). As a result, scoring in these ways isn’t exactly a prerequisite for being a Premiership contender in the NRL — certainly not to the extent that it is in rugby union.

Another major difference between NRL and rugby union is the fact that in the former, teams are only allowed six tackles before a change of possession must occur. In rugby union, teams can theoretically maintain possession for as long as they want, though turnovers are more common in that form of the game.

There’s also differences in what happens after a tackle is completed. In rugby league, the tackler must release the player with the ball to allow for the play-the-ball to take place. In rugby union, play continues when a tackle is made and the player with the ball must play-the-ball immediately.

A final significant difference between these two codes is what happens when the ball goes out of play. In rugby league, this traditionally results in a scrum — not so in rugby union. Union uses what’s known as a line-out, which is when the ball is thrown back into play by the opposing team after it goes out of bounds.

To a layperson, these two codes may appear virtually inseparable. Many of the same skills are required in both sports, and supporters of one are often supporters of both as a result. There are, however, also numerous differences which separate NRL from rugby union, and it’s in these differences that both establish themselves as their own unique sports.

Imagine you are the manager of your own Euro 2020 team, and you have the pick of the players to create your ultimate squad. Well, that’s exactly what you can do if you try your hand at fantasy football, European Championship style!

Fantasy Football is an ever-growing betting phenomenon which puts you at the heart of the sporting action. And this year’s Euro tournament is the perfect way to try your hand. If you are new to the virtual sport, or would like to up your game, then check out our Euro 2020 Fantasy Football tips, hints and advice.

How it works

EURO 2020 Fantasy Football lets you pick and manage your own virtual team for the tournament. You’ll build up points based on your players’ real-life Euro 2020 performances and your team is not limited to single nation players.

Each of your players can accumulate points by making the starting team, scoring goals, keeping a clean sheet and giving assists. But you can also lose points – and even your player – if they get red carded, miss penalties or concede goals. You also pick a captain for each match, who can then collect you double points.

There are many ways to sign up to Fantasy Football Euro 2020 but if you are looking to stake a bet on your fantasy team, then Fanteam has an excellent offer. Signing up to Fanteam is easy and will put you right at the heart of managing your own ultimate Euro soccer squad.

So, how do you pick the best team that will score you points? Here’s our top five tips:

Pick guaranteed starters

This is your priority task when setting up your fantasy team as you don’t want to take it right up to the wire and wait for the final line-ups to be announced. If you really don’t think a player will be picked to start, our advice is to leave them out.

Balance your players

Remember, just like bone fide managers, you will have a budget and you need to make it work for you. And as tempting as it might be, don’t just pick all the best players. Choosing a few ‘budget players’ can balance your budget and mean you can then splash out on a few of the big hitters.

Spread your budget

Being flexible in the range of players you have, and their price (budget, mid-price and premium) also means you can make the most of the transfer dates. As you are only allowed eight transfers between group stages, owning several players from each price group means you can usually move to most players using one transfer, instead of wasting two.

Plan ahead for your captain

As your chosen team captain attracts double points, you need to bring in some strategic thinking to max out on their point potential. The first plan is to have a captain playing on every calendar day and match him to the opposition. And by thinking ahead you will give your fantasy team the chance to maximise on those captain points scoring skills just when its needed.

Make the early rounds count

And finally, it may seem obvious, but those first few matches can make all the difference in getting ahead…and staying there. A lot of the heavy point scoring can happen in the group stages and knockout rounds where there is more of a performance discord between teams. From around the quarter finals, things tend to get a little more even and this is a tough fantasy space to make up that all-important ground.

The Cheltenham Festival brings together the best horse from the UK and Ireland over four days of superb racing. The meeting features championship races for hurdlers and steeplechasers over a variety of distances. There is also a cross-country race and a championship bumper, which is a Flat race for National Hunt bred horses. Another feature of the Cheltenham Festival is the big-field competitive handicaps. Unexposed horses often perform well in these races and racing horses are prepared well in advance. The titles of leading jockey and leading trainer at the Cheltenham Festival are sought after by the best riders and handlers. There is also a contest between UK and Irish trained runners, and this is a popular betting heat.

Cheltenham Festival Leading Jockey

The Cheltenham Festival leading jockey title is decided by the number of winners. If two or more jockeys are tied placed rides are used as a tie-break. In the unlikely event of a tie when these results are taken into the account the honour is shared. There is no cash prize involved and the concept is bookmaker led. Betting on the top rider at the Cheltenham Festival is popular. Placing this type of wager means you have a horse running in most races if you back one of the leading jockeys. The most proficient jockeys who can deliver consistency are employed by the best trainers who have the backers to train the best horses.

Ruby Walsh is retained by Willie Mullins who always sends a strong team to the Cheltenham Festival from Ireland. Davy Russell rides many of Gordon Elliott’s leading Cheltenham Festival contenders so he has many winning chances. Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson share out their rides and Barry Geraghty and Nico de Boinville are given plenty of opportunities to ride winners.

Ruby Walsh is retained by Willie Mullins who always sends a strong team to the Cheltenham Festival from Ireland.

Cheltenham Festival Leading Trainer

The rules for the Cheltenham Festival leading trainer contest are the same as for the jockeys. The title is decided by the number of winners and in the case of a tie placed horse determine the outcome. The Trainer’s Championship in Britain and Ireland is based on the amount of prize money won so there is a different process at the Cheltenham Festival. In recent years jumps racing in Britain and Ireland has been dominated by a small number of trainers and this situation is replicated at the Cheltenham Festival. In 2018 Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott trained the winners of 15 of the 28 races.

Nicky Henderson is the winning most trainer at the Cheltenham Festival and his team combines quantity with quality. He trains leading contenders with three of the four main championship races at the 2018 Cheltenham Festival. Numerically, he is well represented but Paul Nicholls is not so successful after a great run at the start of the century. However, Mullins or Elliott are fancied to be the leading trainer at the Cheltenham Festival for several years. Colin Tizzard and Phillip Hobbs will have fancied runners but not in the quantity to challenge the two trainers from Ireland who have wealthy backers.

The World Cup is a festival of football – but it’s also a feast of colour. From the fans in the stands to the players on the pitch, you can’t beat a bold and colourful World Cup kit.

So, who comes out on top in the style stakes? Here are the seven best kits at the 2018 World Cup.

Nigeria

There’s been a lot of hype around the Nigeria kit for this World Cup – and with good reason. Manufacturer Nike describes it as a ‘subtle homage to Nigeria’s 94 shirt, with its eagle wing-inspired black-and-white sleeve and green torso’ and it’s certainly the most striking strip on show this summer. That probably explains why there were long queues outside Nike’s flagship London store on the day of release, with stock fast selling out. The Super Eagles’ official suits deserve praise too.

Germany

Retro designs inspired by kits of past World Cups are popular at the moment – and none are better than that to be worn by the 2014 champions this summer. Germany have returned to their iconic Italia 90 strip and replicated it with a modern, monochrome update. Hopefully they won’t knock us out on penalties in this one – but the 2018 outright odds on William Hill suggests Die Mannschaft should be a strong contender in Russia.

Colombia

Sticking with the Italia 90 nostalgia, Columbia have embraced the era of Carlos Valderrama et al for their 2018 design. A striking yellow shirt with red and blue flashes, navy shoulders and red socks makes for the best all-round full kit combo.

Peru

You can breathe a sigh of relief right now, Peru HAVE kept their iconic sash design for the 2018 World Cup. The gold stripe is a nice touch and the simple badge helps to give this the look of a retro shirt.

Japan

The best World Cup shirts capture something of the spirit of the nation sporting them. That’s why Japan’s 2018 strip – which is inspired by Sashiko, a Japanese folk embroidery – works really well. A bold, smart blue with an intricate and effective pattern, this stands out from the crowd.

Brazil

The Brazil 1970 team is one of football’s most legendary teams – and the kit caught the eye too given that this was the first tournament broadcast on colour television. The designers have decided to capture the sprit of Carlos Alberto, Pele, Rivelino, Jairzinho et al by going to Sao Paulo’s Football Museum to get an exact match of the yellow/gold colour of the shirts they wore. The result is a classic Brazil shirt, and the best worn by the Selecao for some time.

Australia

Speaking of yellow jerseys, Australia will also be bringing a splash of colour to the tournament in Russia. This shirt, however, is all about the sleeves. Perhaps a divisive feature, we think they work to help lift this shirt beyond the generic and forgettable designs chosen by others (England’s shirt, for example, is sadly lacking in imagination). Apparently, the sleeves actually reflect the ‘sea of gold’ that spurred them on to qualification in 2006, after a 32-year tournament absence, so there’s a reason behind the quirky design too.

There’s plenty of choice, therefore, if you’re a ‘football hipster’ and want to snap up a shirt for your collection this summer – or if you just enjoy the sartorial selection of delights thrown up by the World Cup.

The opportunity to work anywhere abroad is exciting, but the chance to live and work in South America can feel like a dream come true. With so many countries rich in culture, natural wonders, history and opportunity, where do you begin? Buenos Aires is certainly a good place to start!

But how will you adapt when this cosmopolitan capital becomes your home? You are likely to be so busy settling into a new job, finding somewhere to stay, and finding your way around the city that maintaining a healthy lifestyle may fall by the wayside.

With plenty of activities and sports to get involved in, and delicious local cuisine to taste, here are a few things to try in Buenos Aires that will help you stay in good shape and good health.

Have a kick-about

With their world-class national team, it’s easy to see why soccer ignites such a fiery passion within many Argentinians. They have won the World Cup twice after all! In Buenos Aires, there are numerous popular soccer teams including River Plate, Velez Sarsfield, and Boca Juniors which is currently the biggest team in Argentina. Matches are held almost all year round, which gives you plenty of opportunity to join in. Even if you’re not a massive fan, going to a live match and enjoying the thriving buzz in the arena is sure to have you on your feet.

There are plenty of amateur soccer clubs you can be a part of including the Buenos Aires Fútbol Amigos (BAFA), a group of soccer mad fans that organize friendly games across Buenos Aires. No matter your level of ability, this club welcomes anyone and everyone who has a passion for the game. You don’t need to be the next Maradona to kick a ball about! Plus, exercise never feels like work when you’re having fun.

“Beef” up

Argentinians love meat. With an abundance of steak houses and grills, Buenos Aires is known as the steak capital of the world, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself wearing a large white bib, staring open-mouthed at the mountains of meat engulfing your plate.

If you’re not too fond of beef, or if you’re vegetarian, then you could try locro instead. It’s a popular local stew made with corn, beans, vegetables and usually meat, but you can always ask for the dish without it.

There are also plenty of vegetarian restaurants where you can find the most delicious cuisine including queso and cebolla (cheese and onion) empanadas which are a popular Argentine savory pastry, and quinoa which is a grain-based dish that is very nutritious and high in protein. Another desirable dish is humita which can either be eaten as a speedy snack or a scrumptious main course, made with fresh corn, milk, onion, spices, goat cheese, then wrapped in a corn leaf.

Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet abroad can be hard because you’ll undoubtedly want to indulge in all the wrong foods even though it feels so right! But with a wide variety of farmers’ markets dotted around the city, which offer plenty of fresh fruit and veg, you won’t have to worry about indulging yourself with a few delectable desserts now and then.

You could stop by the historic Mercado de San Telmo, where you’ll find juicy globe squash, eye-watering onions, vibrant peppers, sweet potatoes, cauliflowers and cabbages. For the cheese lovers, be sure to visit Mercado de Juramento which houses a wide variety of cheese, meat and fish stands.

Duck, duck, go!

Pato is Argentina’s national sport. The sport dates back as early as 1610 and was created by a group of gauchos (South American cowboys) to break up the tedium of watching their herds in the Argentine pampa; the vast plains which extend westward across central Argentina from the Atlantic coast to the Andean foothills.

The original game was abolished in the 19th century due to its dangerous nature, but was revived in 1930 with strict regulations. The game consisted of four players on each side, and eight horses with the objective of scoring in a net at the end of the field. But the item used to score, was a duck (pato)! The duck would be placed in a leather basket with handles and tossed between the mounted players.

Luckily for the duck, the game now uses a ball instead and can be thought of as a cross between polo and basketball. Even so, the game frequently ends in broken bones! If pato sounds a little too risky, you could always forego the game and go horse riding instead. Not only does it strengthen core muscles, improves balance, co-ordination, and flexibility, but riding will give you a real feel for Argentinian history and culture.

Like every sport, riding horses can be challenging and risky, even more so when a large animal is involved. So, it’s useful to know where to go if you ever find yourself with an injury.

Look after yourself

There are many sports injury rehabilitation centers located across Buenos Aires which offer specialized treatments and support for athletes and sports enthusiasts. These centers offer strengthening exercises and physiotherapy to ensure that the injury site regains its full function.

While public healthcare in Argentina is free, physiotherapy may not be covered because access to services largely depends on an individual’s income level, which is why many expats choose to take out international health insurance. Taking out private cover allows you access to a wider range of doctors and specialists, plus you won’t have to endure long waiting hours which can also be common in Buenos Aires.

Wherever you live, and whether you are an exercise fanatic or take a more leisurely approach to fitness and well-being, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important. With healthy local food options, amateur soccer clubs – and maybe even a duck or two – you won’t have to look too far to find something that helps you stay fit and healthy in Buenos Aires.

If you’ve been invited to a round of golf with colleagues, or you’re thinking of getting into golf, for relaxation or even for health reasons, if you’ve never set foot on a golf course before, you may be wondering what to wear. Obviously, we’ve all seen the professional golfers on the course in their expensive clothes, but what does the average person wear on the golf course. Here, we walk you through it.

Check the course rules

Firstly, some golf courses have strict dress codes, so it’s best to check their rules before you go out to buy your new golf clothing. Even if your course has no dress code, you’ll want to look the part – especially if you’re playing with business colleagues – if they’re all kitted up and you arrive in a T-Shirt and shorts, you’ll be uncomfortable from the get go – and that’s no way to start what should be a great trip out.

Trousers or Shorts

Whether you’re eying up a great pair of Galvin Green Trousers, or you’ve seen a great pair of shorts with a snazzy pattern that you think would look great on the course, it’s important to remember that shorts can lead to a dilemma surrounding socks, especially if your course has a rule on how much flesh should be on show. It may sound odd, but some clubs require you to only show the kneecap, whilst other allow short socks, but only if they’re white.

If in doubt what to wear, and for your first time, we’d suggest you go for a good quality pair of trousers – something akin to a chino style pair of trousers will serve you well.

Shoes or Trainers

Some courses don’t allow trainers, so you’ll have to check before you dig out your favourite pair of Adidas or Nikes. However, most golf shoes these days are almost indistinguishable from trainers, and many courses don’t mind. Just make sure they’re smart, and comfortable.

Shirt

Whilst the likes of Tiger Woods could get away with wearing a roll neck, for us non-celebrities, it is usually a smart collared shirt that’s preferred on the course. There is a plethora of options when it comes to colour and style, but again, check with the course what their requirements are.

Additions

A hat and sunglasses are often required, especially when playing in the summer months. Whilst not compulsory, the sun does often get in your eyes on the course, and these will help improve your game and reduce the glare, making it a more comfortable round. When it comes to hats, usually a cap will suffice, but do make sure you have the peak facing forwards.

With the tips above, and a quick phone call to check out the course rules – or a look at the website – you’re sure to arrive for your first round of golf without making any glaring errors, allowing you to start your game off on the right foot, no matter who you’re playing.
